Flash can impede Google's efforts and that of your visitors by slowing down your website, degrading quality of graphic images and it can be incompatible with older browsers. Many flash effects can be accomplished through DOM or math equations and other programs such as DHTML which simulate flash effects without affecting the quality of the coding in your web page. While this process is not suitable for all websites, there are definate times when it should be used before considering flash page effects.
